If you want to experience the real Destin, rent a pontoon boat and head out to Crab Island for the day. The underwater sandbar allows you to anchor your boat and walk around in waist deep water making new friends. This unique natural phenomenon is a must-do when visiting Destin. Bring your own provisions or sample the local flavor from floating restaurants and bars.

For the most authentic experience in Destin and amazing panoramic views in Destin, you must cruise to Crab Island. Rated as one of the top things to do in Destin, Crab Island is where everyone goes to relax. Crab island is one of our area's top attractions and has been photographed and ared on shows such as Good Morning America, published in various magazines and featured in publications across the globe. I would venture to say that Crab Island is the main reason Boating Magazine named Destin one of the top 10 places to live and boat in the United States.

Road Less Travelled...
There really is nothing
State Road 30A is the designation the Florida Department of Transportation gives to a 28-mile stretch just east of Destin that runs along the beaches of South Walton County. In recent years, 30A has become synonymous with a laid back lifestyle you can’t find anywhere else.
A drive along 30A is like a trip around the world. Each little beachside enclave has its own architectural style. Rosemary Beach evokes thoughts of a European village while Alys Beach borrows its style from Bermuda. The master planned community of Seaside has the most recognized homes on 30A. "The Truman Show" was filmed in Seaside where the idyllic town and its pastel homes served as the perfect backdrop for the fictional town of Seahaven.

"You just never know how close you may come to a dolphin or maybe even a whale shark."
30A is a nature lover’s dream, and the white sand beaches and crystal clear Gulf waters are only the beginning. 30A is one of the few places in the world where you can find coastal dune lakes, a rare ecological phenomenon. These lakes near the beach provide a picturesque locale for kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing and bird watching. Outside of 30A, these dune lakes only exist in New Zealand, Australia and Madagascar.
Looking to stay active? Stop by one of the four state parks along 30A for hiking and biking through untouched woods and secluded beachfront. Here, you will see some of the tallest sand dunes in Northwest Florida. You can play golf on one of our award-winning courses or catch a sunrise yoga class right on the beach.
You won’t find any big box retailers along 30A. Pick up something that suits your fancy at quirky boutiques, funky shops and unique art galleries. Chances are you will meet one of the many artists who call 30A home.
At the end of the day, it’s time to kick back and relax with world class cuisine served in any number of restaurants where flip flops and shorts are perfectly acceptable attire. Don’t be surprised if you rub elbows with vacationing celebrities while grabbing a libation at one of our local watering holes. 30A’s low key vibe attracts musicians, actors and athletes looking to get away from the spotlight and unwind.
Leave your worries behind and start your carefree 30A adventure today.
Don’t forget the camera!
"What is relaxation to you? Maybe it's a stroll along the store, a long bike ride or spa day. If you are looking to unwind you can't go wrong with whatever you choose."
